Comparison Between Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Its Competitors

Samsung has recently unveiled its new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to the world market and the phablet is expected to release in India very soon. Phablet segment of the market has seen many players launching great products in the recent few months. The new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will certainly face some competition from the likes of Sony Xperia Z Ultra, Lenovo K900, LG Optimus G Pro and it will also receive some rivalry from its predecessor the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Let’s have a look at the competition between the phablets and the new Galaxy Note 3 in terms of the specifications.

Operating System

The new Note 3 has a newer version of the Android Operating System as compared to its rivals. The Note 3 runs on the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean version whereas the Sony Xperia Z Ultra and the Lenovo K900 run on the 4.2 Jelly Bean version of Android. The Galaxy Note 2 and LG Optimus G Pro both run on the 4.1 Jelly Bean version of Android.

Screen Display

The LG and Lenovo phablets have a better pixel density as compared to the Note 3. The Note 3 has a 5.7 inches Super AMOLED screen with 1920x 1080p resolution. Only the Sony Xperia beats the Note 3 in terms of screen size as it has a 6.4 inches screen.

The Connectivity

There is not much to differentiate between the rival phablets in terms of connectivity. The Note 3, Xperia Z Ultra and the Optimus G Pro have the same specs. There is no NFC and Infrared in Lenovo K900.

Processor & Storage

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has a 1.9 GHz quad-core processor and a 1.3 GHz quad-core Exynos processor. That makes it an octa-core processor. None of the other mentioned rivals have octa-core processors and Lenovo K900 just has a dual core processor. All other rivals mentioned have 2 GB RAM space where as the Note 3 has 3 GB RAM space. The Note 3 is better when it comes to storage compared to its rivals. It has 32 GB and 64 GB internal storage options with upto 64 GB expandable memory with a MicroSD card and 50 GB Dropbox free storage. The only other phablet that matches in terms of storage is the Note 2.

 Camera & Battery

Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the LG Optimus G Pro and Lenovo K900 have similar specs when it comes to primary and secondary cameras and they are the best in the segment with 13 MP primary and around 2MP secondary camera. When it comes to battery power the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has the best battery (3200 mAh) whereas the Lenovo K900 scores low when it comes to battery (2500mAh).

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is a very good phablet with many key features that are missing in other rival phablets. However there are some features where the other rivals are better. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is the most expensive of the lot at Rs 49,900. This is a top end phablet in the market today.
